Thank you to everyone that voted for the fiber I'll spin for Aeolian. The voting was closer than I expected. For a long time it could have been one of 4 of them. The loser, by a long shot was my personal favorite. It always seems to work that way for me. Maybe because I like autumnal colors. Maybe because my choice doesn't photograph as well as the others.
My solution? Start spinning the Chocolate Alpaca-Tussah in the Meyer Lemon colorway anyway. So yummy!
I just finished plying it this morning.
Love, love, love it! I have 456 yards at 30 wpi before washing it. I expect a bit of shrinkage, so it might be 400+ yards. Not quite the 500 yards I need for Aeolian. No worries. I plan to make something else with this and maybe spin another 2 oz as well. I was so nice to spin and a good trial for how fine I need to spin to get 500 yards. At least that is the excuse I'm using.
But, you want to know the winner!
As a reminder, these were the choices:
From left to right: Yak-Tussah in Pomegranate, Angora-Merino in
Tangerine, Chocolate Alpaca-Tussah in Meyer Lemon, Alpaca-Merino-Tussah
in Sorrel, Alpaca-Tussah in Dew.
The winner is Yak-Tussah in Pomegranate by a nose over Angora-Merino in Tangerine. I am very happy the Yak-Tussah won and can't wait to start spinning it.
Our randomly drawn winner is Donna. Please email me and let me know which fiber you want me to send to you.
Off to start knitting some lace. Or spinning some lace yarn. Such a tough life!
I was wondering about the Meyer Lemon, because the yellow in it did NOT come through in the group picture at all. I'm happy you got to spin your favorite anyways!

Your spinning looks like gold. Channeling Rumpelstiltskin much?
