I have started my Sock in a Day sock. Last weekend didn't offer me a day to dedicate to it and this weekend I am dyeing with Brooke. That means I will be using the 18 hours over a week option. My guesstimate is that it will take 12 + hours for one sock. I think I will use the full 18 hours and see how far I can get on the second sock.
So, what am I making?
The stitch pattern is just a right twist diagonal pattern. The other sock will be a mirror image using left twists. It is so simple, yet I am always anxious for the next twist row. Maybe I am easily entertained.
The yarn is Sea Wool by Fleece Artist in their amber colorway. It feels very silky like a soy silk and it has less elasticity than I expected in a 70% Merino wool yarn. Not that I am complaining, just reporting.
I am calling the sock "Go This Way" because when I decided to mirror the other sock, I got the old nursery rhyme "Did You Ever See a Lassie" stuck in my head. go this way and that way . . .
Speaking of yummy amber colored sock yarn . . .
In her travels, Brooke found this Meilenweit Fun yarn by Lana Grossa (color # 136) and bought it for me.
That is a good friend.
But what about the sweater?
I have not forgotten it. I am playing with the pattern and one or two new colors. Thank you for all the suggestions. I will post a new swatch when it is done.
It is not all fun and giggles here at the homestead. Sammie went walkabout this morning. The front door opened and he was faster than I am. He does this every once in a while. We live on a fairly busy, four lane street that connects this area to the freeway. We live one block away from another four lane street that was the state highway before the freeway was built. People regularly drive 50 mph or more. A small dog on the run is a scary event.
We were out looking for him and had just returned to check for messages when the phone rang. A construction worker named Jose had him at the new city hall building site about 10 blocks away. He admitted to me that some of the guys wanted to keep him, but he has two dogs and he knows how much it would hurt to not get his dogs back. Bless him for that! He wouldn't take a reward so I think I'll make a donation to rescue in his name.
Thank goodness for honest people! More people than I can remember have returned ours to us, she sometimes goes walkabout also. I never tie her in front of a store or restaurant unless I can keep an eye on her, she would wag her tail and go with anyone who petted her.
Nice-looking sock (and thanks for the ear worm). I may try your toe-up sock heel, I like the look and - bonus - it may save me some frogging.

Saw that! It's almost as "crazy" as 52 pairs in a year ;-)
Glad Sammie is safe and back home.

I'm sorry to hear that Sammy took a runner again. That's no fun. He is just so damn fast. Glad to hear that he is back safe and sound.
This weekend is going to be fun!

Oh thank goodness for the construction guy! That's such a terrifying thing to have happen. We've had our dogs get out too sometimes. Luckily we've only had one get really away. And he got himself stuck under a neighbor's house without getting himself hurt. Luckily another neighbor heard him crying and brought him home but we were frantic by then. Hugs to Sammie and his family.
That's a very pretty sock. I've just got to get faster at this stuff. That's all there is to it.

Thank goodness Sammie is OK and Jose earned 1000 karma points!
I love the sock and when you decide to knit a sweater, you don't mess around, do you? :)

Whew! That was a close one. I'm happy to hear you got Sammie back alright.
Maybe his hero needs a pair of socks? :-) I'm joking!

There's that earworm again, darn it.
And I've tagged you for 8 random things -- check out the rules on my blog. Have fun!

Oh Maia....my heart dropped when I read about your Sammie. Thankfully he was returned to you...A person wonders if Sammie could speak what kind of stories would he tell about his travels! I have two cats and when they were young they'd scoot out the front door past my leg when I was saying goodbye to my husband in the morning. Like you said they're quick little rascals. My neighbours, on more than one occasion, would see this crazy looking lady in her housecoat chasing her cat. Oh well I always managed to get them.... Love the colour of your amber sock yarn, gives me more ideas!!
