I started working on my heel tutorial only to realize that my pictures are not good enough (blurry). You deserve muc They looked great on a one inch square preview (yeah, I am smarter that that, usually). The second sock is now. I will take better pictures of this one.
I do have progress pictures.
The first one is almost done. I have just started on the ribbing.
I adapted the leaf portion for the back of the leg. I like this pattern. I may fiddle with it and make a whole sock out of it.
After reviewing the second skein, I decided to rewind it into a cake to better see the colors. Here the center of the cake was the outside of the skein (and a frogged swatch).
This way both socks will start with green toes and be similar in color patterns. I like fraternal socks, but prefer they not be crazily fraternal.
Speaking of socks and they unrelenting sockiness of my blog lately. . . Marina commented that she feels like a one trick pony too. Of course her one trick is making gorgeous Fair Isle sweaters. She has committed to making one a month for the whole year! Good golly, that is crazy amazing! Go check them out. I can't even tell you which one I like best (Abalone? Blue Corn Cafe? Leo Tunic? and check out the collar on Flora!); they are all so wonderful.
I recently confessed to her that I do not have a handmade sweater that fits me. I haven't completed an adult sweater in about 20 years. That is crazy. I wear ugly tacky fleece to keep warm (proof that fashion is NOT my forte). This must change. I am publicly vowing to start AND finish a sweater for myself to wear this fall. Hold me to it. Please. Public ridicule is acceptable, if necessary.
I will stay on you to make that sweater. A friend and I were to start a sweater together...I knit mine in about a week, and she JUST started swatching for it (two, make that three months after I finished mine). I've been on her to get it done, and I will be happy to do the same for you :). I love those socks!! The colors are gorgeous. I almost bought roving in (about) the same colors yesterday...looking at your socks I am wishing I had bought the roving.

You're right, Marina *is* crazy. And yet, you know she'll get them all made and they'll be beautiful.
Sweaters are also not my strong suit - the only one that *really* fits well is my Knitting Olympics sweater.

Ooh, I really need to make myself a new sweater also! Thank goodness for fleece, in the meantime.
I have one (started about a year ago) with the body 3/4 done, needing sleeves. Now, THAT, I might be able to finish by fall, along with yours that you start now.

Aww, don't do that! Now, I'm feeling the pressure to knit something else ;-)
OK, I'll try to squeeze in a pair of socks before Christmas but it has to be DK or heavier!

We'll have to figure out a way to do a conference call S&B or something. You can nag me to knit something (anything - I just need to get back into regular progress) and I'll nag (errr I mean gently remind) you about your sweater. I got to see the yarn choice process and I was fascinated. I'll be thrilled to follow your progress on the sweater.

I love the new sock, especially the "back" pattern - I agree a whole sock in that pattern would be cool too!
I don't do a whole lot of knitting for me so I try to make my yearly World Wide Knit In Public Day something for me! WWKIP Day is June 9th this year, why don't you make a commitment to start a sweater for you on WWKIP with me too?

OK, your feet are officially to the fire--which should make knitting socks a worthless activity until your new sweater is done. I'll send you my "how to design a sweater" matrix to get you started!

I love the soft colors of that yarn. Beautiful sock!

I heartily applaud and commend your commitment to yourself Now, to pick the yarn and pattern! Do you have something in mind?

You must knit a seamless sweater using Elizabeth Zimmerman's percentage system then! It will fit you perfectly as you can use the measurements taken from your favorite fleece. :D
Lovely colors on that sock.
