My first scarf for the Red Scarf Project is done! Yes, it is not red. It is Rowan Tapestry in the Rustic colorway. Soft, warm, and gender neutral.
I am pleased with how it turned out. I am also pleased to offer the pattern so you can make one too. The pattern is available here, or at my free pattern links on the left bar. I added tips and ideas on how to customize the pattern.
If you make the pattern, I would love to see it. Please send me a picture or a link to a picture. Also, let me know if you find an error or have a question.
In the pattern I have two versions. Version 1 is above. Done. Finished. Blocked. Version two is still on the needles; I had to pick up an extra skein of yarn from the good folks over at Studio Knit. Pictures will follow shortly after I finish it.
To make sure I have at least 12 WIPs, I have started another scarf for the The Project. Here is a peek at the swatch. Yup. Red.
Pattern Errata:
10/17/2006 - There was an error in the increase portion of the chart fort Scarf 1, specifically Row 23. Thank you to Lauren for catching it.
11/6/2006 - Lauren caught an error on the decrease portion of Scarf 1. A corrected version is up now. Thank you Lauren.
that is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Oh, I love that pattern! Thanks so much for posting it, the scarf turned out terrific :)
Such a gorgeous scarf and such a lovely project. I can't even imagine what it must be like to go off to school without the support system of a family in place. I may try to whip a scarf or two up after all my Christmas knitting is done. It'll give me something to do in late December.

Hi, I came here from Norma's site, I love your pattern. I am planning to make a scarf for the project in January (must. finish. xmas. knits.). I'm not too far away from you, methinks, I'm in Corte Madera.

Your scarf is beautiful. Thanks for posting the pattern; I think I'll make one of my red scarves with that pattern.
My first "Red" scarf isn't really going to be red either, but a maroon tweedy color.

I love the pattern! The scarf is gorgeous! I just bought 2 balls of the Potpourri colorway. I was cruising the web to see how people were using Tapestry and I came upon your blog. Perfect!

I am trying your first red scarf pattern. I'm not sure if I have the wrong number of stitches, but...when I get to row 23 (23 stitches) and I get towards the end of the row (after the 8 yo, k2tog) where it's yo, k1, yo, k2 I have an extra stitch left over. Any ideas? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
