A native Californian living in the San Francisco Bay Area with my most wonderful husband, my daughter-from-another-mother Kay, and Sammie my child of the canine persuasion.
I've been a knitter for as long as I can remember. I learned from my mother and grandmother. For a long time I knit in a vacuum without many patterns or magazines. The result is that I taught myself how to design my own patterns. Now, I design almost everything I knit; it is the easiest way for me.
My favorite thing to knit is socks. Each one is a fun little puzzle. I am addicted. I am starting to wonder how many hand knit socks I need. One more pair won't hurt. Right?
I am trying to branch out. I am trying to recall the days before I knew about knitting socks. Currently, I am knitting a sweater for myself as I don't have a single hand knit sweater that fits me. I do have a collection of sweaters from the 80's that would look great with leg warmers. Hm, yeah, not going there again.
I started dyeing and spinning a couple of years ago. I prefer dyeing with natural plant and insect dyes. My favorite thing to spin is sock yarn (you saw that coming didn't you?).
